Not taking our foot off the gas!!

Recently, based on information received for North Northants Council, we were at last able to provide you with a date for planning committee determination of the proposed development on Castle Manor Farm (Planning reference NE/22/00151/FUL).

However, for as yet unclear reasons, this date was suddenly cancelled with no reason or any clear indication of a new date.

In response to our original announcement, we were overwhelmed with support from residents across the Upper Nene Valley wanting to show the strength of objection against this development by attending the committee hearing. We continue to monitor developments daily and will publish the new date as soon as we become aware of it.

The total number of individual objections submitted to date in respect of this development now total nearly 900. This is an unprecedented number in terms of any application submitted in the eastern part of the county.

Whilst we wait with bated breath for a new date, STAUNCH continues to challenge what we believe is misleading or factually incorrect documentation submitted in support of the application.

In a significant development, after many months of stonewalling, Natural England have agreed to review their initial report in which they incorrectly stated that the proposed site was already allocated for development. We currently await the outcome of that review.

In other developments, members of STAUNCH and the Parish Council met with representatives from Anglian Water at the Titchmarsh Sewage works and were able to discuss concerns around capacities of the system. It was a constructive meeting resulting in continued engagement and dialogue.

Whilst we await the next steps here are some points to consider:

  • Next time you look out of your window at night just look at the light pollution already emanating from Haldens Parkway.
  • Next time you leave the village and venture onto the A605 remind yourself of the additional traffic that will result on this already over capacity road.
  • Next time you are out for a spring walk look at your surroundings and remember how the devastation from the developments will impact the environment.
  • Every objection counts.
