The central part of Titchmarsh is indeed a conservation area, and the village contains several listed buildings. But the conservation area does not cover the countryside around the village, which is not an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) or Green Belt land. However, the council does have several planning policies in place that presume against warehouse development on greenfield sites, that seek to keep villages separate from each other, and that protect views of historic buildings such as Titchmarsh’s Grade 1 listed church tower. We are reminding the council of these, and also encouraging them to make their countryside protection policies stronger (see above).
